EVERYBODY MUST DIE is a fantastic free indie game crafted by solo developer Damulchi over six months of spare time. Set on April 30, 1906, inside the Goldsworthy Mental Asylum, it takes you on a genuinely eerie journey wrapped in detailed pixel art and a heavy, unsettling atmosphere.
You play Mr. Osborne, an old man who just woke up from a very scary dream. He makes plans right away to kill everyone in the building, as if some strange force were controlling him. The asylum looks sad from the outside. Candles flicker in the darkened rooms and there are dark spots in the basement. The staff is really scary because they keep talking to you regularly until the fight starts.
Everybody Must Die is a mix of top-down action games and scary puzzle games. It's simple and easy to learn how to play this game:
Press the arrow keys to move.
Attack: Press the Space bar to swing your weapon.
To put the item down, press the X key to let go of it.
There are bloody fights that leave red marks on the screen while you look through rooms for diary pages to figure out letter and number locks. As you go further down into the basement, you'll meet patients, scary monsters, and big spiders. You'll need to set off bombs to get past them.
Pay close attention to every note, because the answers to the number and letter locks are hidden in the diary pages. It's important to note that each time you play, the passcode is different.
Do not get close to the spiders. So don't get too close too quickly. The spiders in the game are tough and can take a lot of hits.
During boss fights, remember to be patient. It's really tough in the last fight. Instead of cutting and hacking without looking, watch the boss move and remember it.
The top-down graphics are well-thought-out and full of blood and gore, making them perfect for gamers who like intense games.
Villain's Point of View: Read a scary story from the bad guy's point of view.
Great Length: It only takes 45 minutes to finish the game, which makes it great for a fun nite in.
EVERYBODY MUST DIE is a weird new take on the short horror movie. It's a scary puzzle game, but if you can handle it and don't mind digital blood, you should play it.
